What must be the characteristics of a cable to connect a laptop (power, video, ethernet) to a docking station?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad P14s Gen 1 (Type 20S5) with a Lenovo docking station 40AY. They are connected by a USB-C cable (5C11B41472) provided by Lenovo (with their docking station). Everything works.

The cable is very short and I would like to change it with a 2 m (78.7″ or 6.56 ft, not sure which unit one is more common) cable so that everything fits on my desk.

I tried about 5 different cables but none really worked. Some do not work at all, some others work, then do not work anymore, then work again, etc. In summary — only the Lenovo one is fine.

Are there special characteristics (naming) I should be looking for in the cable? Or maybe — 2 m is not realistic for the workload (I hope not).
