As per title, I have an old CD-R (from the late 2000s) that I want recover some data from. The CD is in good conditions and doesn’t show any signs of diskrot, but it was stored in a relatively humid place.
From the file explorer I can see the file structure, folders and file names (I am not sure if it’s important, but I’m using a recent ASUS bluray burner). But as soon as i try to copy the files to disk, they get copied instantly on disk as zeroed files, although the filesize seems to be the correct size as if they were not zeroed.
The fact that the file structure has been preserved makes me think that the disk is somehow readable, but I can’t seem to get any more information out of the disk. I have tried some recovery tools like dvdisaster and ddrescue but to the same results as above.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to recover the data from the CD?
