Power / Charging issue on my ASUS E410K notebook PC

I have an ASUS E410K notebook (manufactured 2022-02) which is dual bootable between Fedora Linux (FC42) and Windows 10. It has been giving me good service since I bought it at a closeout sale at BestBuy a couple of years ago, but very recently, it refuses to charge its battery, both under Linux and under Windows.

I can power it up and boot it when connecting the power cube to (120V) wall power, but the battery status shows 0% and never changes, and when I disconnect the wall plug, it dies instantly. I can leave it plugged in overnight (running or powered off) but the 0% never changes. I have two power cubes, and it performs the same using either one. I have tried it on a port on my UPS, and on a plain wall socket, and the problem is the same.

I see no user-accessible battery compartment on the underside, so it is probably a soldered-in pouch-type Li-ion battery.

What is my next debugging step? Is it likely that BestBuy’s Geek Squad can fix it for less than the cost of buying a new budget laptop?
