Here’s the problem:
- wanted to reinstall Windows
- current installation has BitLocker hardware encryption (Samsung 990 PRO)
- rebooting and choosing to boot from a USB flash drive never works, existing installation starts instead
On the 1st reboot, it asked for BitLocker key, entered it, existing installation starts.
On subsequent reboots, it just starts existing installation.
Note that there is activity on the USB flash drive LED containing the Windows setup.
Is this a security measure from BitLocker?
If so, then is the only possible way is to PSID revert and secure erase?
Basically, I wanted to check if Windows setup would see the SSD, if it did, that would have saved me the hassle to make a Windows To Go USB key with Samsung Magician to perform the PSID revert then boot the Samsung USB flash drive to perform the secure erase.
EDIT:
- the computer is a laptop ThinkBook 16p G2 ACH
- the BIOS settings are the default ones
- the Windows Setup USB flash drive works on another PC
