I’m trying to configure a TP-Link VX231 modem (ISP firmware from Türk Telekom) to operate in bridge mode, so that my ZTE ZXHN H298A router (HGW) can handle the PPPoE connection and routing.
My setup
ISP: Türk Telekom (VDSL) Modem: TP-Link VX231 (Türk Telekom branded firmware) Router: ZTE ZXHN H298A Goal: Make the VX231 a pure bridge modem, and let the H298A do the PPPoE login.
What I did
Logged in to VX231 at 192.168.1.1 Navigated to: Gelişmiş → Ağ → DSL WAN Edited the active PPPoE connection (DSL_INTERNET) Enabled VLAN tagging (ID = 8) Tried switching the connection type to “Bridge”.
However:
When I connect the HGW (VX231 LAN1 → H298A WAN), the Internet LED blinks red/green — the router fails to establish a PPPoE session.
What I expect
VX231 should transparently bridge the VDSL (8/35) line (VLAN 8 for Türk Telekom). The ZTE H298A should handle PPPoE authentication and obtain a public IP.
How can I correctly configure the TP-Link VX231 (Türk Telekom firmware) to work in bridge mode for Türk Telekom VDSL when using a ZTE ZXHN H298A as the downstream router?
