I’m currently switching away from Chrome/Chromium (because these browsers no longer support manifest-v2 extensions like uBlock Origin), and trying Opera instead – on my Devuan Excalibur GNU/Linux machine, running the Cinnamon desktop environment.
I am having trouble with some, but not all, YouTube videos. So, most videos, like this one for example, play fine, but some, like this one – do not:
and YT claims my browser can’t play it. My questions:
- Why do some videos fail to play? Does it have to do with the codec they use?
- Is the problem with Opera? with Linux? With Cinnamon?
- Can I install something – an extension, a plugin, a library – which would let Opera play these videos (or at least, the one I linked to)?
