Why can’t I get sound enabled in Windows 11?

I am an Senior Exec at a famous MAANG company. Currently have a PC that suddenly has no sound.

Tried everything including reinstalling every driver manually. Still no luck. Is there any way, when I am in India or the South East for that matter can have someone remotely check connecting through TeamViewer. Seems like posting on Microsoft Community just suggests to go to local “service center”, as they say it.

Firstly this is a Dell Inspiron 15 3000

Ran

net stop audiosrv

Settings → System → Sound shows

“No output devices found”

The above means –

Windows cannot enumerate any audio hardware at all.

What I was told is

“You must install chipset first, then audio.”

And to follow these steps:

Steps

Identify your exact laptop / motherboard model

Go to the OEM support page

Download only:

Chipset driver

Audio driver

Install in this order:

Chipset → Reboot
Audio → Reboot

⚠️ If chipset is missing, audio will NEVER appear.

Not sure if these are needed:

Audio disabled in BIOS / UEFI

There are commands which are just programming segments. You can call them code or system commands. At the end, they do run some code.

Thanks. I understand the questions — here is concrete evidence instead of “everything”.

  1. Audio services

Both services are running:

  • Windows Audio → Running (Automatic)
  • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder → Running (Automatic)

Restarting them manually (net stop audiosrv / net start audiosrv) does not change the behavior.

  1. Default output device

There is no default output device to select.

Settings → System → Sound shows:

No output devices found

The volume icon/slider is therefore not shown.

  1. Playback devices / Change system sounds

mmsys.cpl → Playback tab shows no playback devices at all (empty
list), even with “Show Disabled / Disconnected devices” enabled.

  1. Device Manager state

    Drivers are installed, but the device stack does not complete:

From elevated PowerShell:

Get-PnpDevice -Class AudioEndpoint

returns:

No Win32_PnPEntity objects found with property ‘PNPClass’ equal to
‘AudioEndpoint’

This means Windows has no audio endpoints registered, not merely muted audio.

  1. Intel SST platform evidence

On this Dell Inspiron 15 3511 (11th-gen Intel SST platform):

MEDIA Intel® Smart Sound Technology BUS → OK MEDIA Intel® Smart
Sound Technology OED → Error MEDIA Cirrus Logic High Definition
Audio → Unknown

Because the SST OED (DSP layer) is in an Error state, the codec cannot bind and Windows never creates AudioEndpoint devices. This explains why services run but no playback devices exist.

Summary

This is not a mute, default-device, or service issue.
It is a driver-stack initialization failure on Intel SST (DSP/OED layer), which prevents endpoint creation entirely.
