Plan: connect some annke cameras via an unmanaged switch to a dedicated network card (pci-e) and set up frigate. Frigate is set up with docker, but without home assistant.
System: freshly installed linux mx
Camera were activated in windows by connecting them via the same switch directly to the windows computer (different machine).
This was necessary to find out the ip of the camera.
Tested the rtps stream on windows via vlc and it worked: according to annke documentation rtsp://<username>:<password>@<IP address of device>:<RTSP port>/Streaming/channels/<channel number><stream number>
In linux however, frigate does not recognise the camera and vlc does not get a stream with the exact same url as in windows.
Ifconfig shows that no ip is given to the network port with the switch and the camera. But it is shown as active.
The port in the camera is set to 8000 (default) and i cannot set it below 1000. From error messages i gather that frigate is searching for annke devices at a port in the 500s.
But since i cant get a vlc stream to work either, i doubt its frigate problem (yet)
I suspect an issue with the network setup. I have read that linux handles multiple ethernet ports in a weird fashion and that i may need to configure routes. Is that the case? If so i am confused by what to enter as a gateway and what the network mask should be.
