To my best knowledge I did not tell my Windows 10 installation that I have a Microsoft account.
Still, at some time in the past I noticed that two processes regularly read all my photos and videos periodically.
One of those processes is similar to “Windows Search Engine”, and the other one is OneDrive.
Following the discussion about spyware, “selectors” and search for “illegal” material leading to “online search” I wonder:
- Does Microsoft Windows search my files without my consent, and probably notify Microsoft (and subsequently others) about any “matches”?
- Are any of my files actually transferred to some Microsoft Cloud without my explicit confirmation?
It’s not the question whether I have something to hide (the way government puts it), but a question of “Does Microsoft need to know?”.
I read Why has One drive taken all of my photos?, but I could not find the OneDrive Cloud icon in the system tray.
