error redirection not working from inside a function

function rsync_cmd () { 
rsync -abv $srcdir/ $destdir/current_files --delete --backup-dir=${destdir}/previous_versions --suffix=" deleted_$current_date" 1> ${logpath}/backup_${current_date}.log 2> ${logpath}/error_${current_date}.log}

The function above will not redirect stderr, rather outputs to the terminal.

I can’t figure out why.
