Dual-boot or completely replace the default OS (Windows 11) with Linux? [closed]

Choice A: Dual-booting Windows 11 (default) alongside my preferred Linux distro

Choice B: Completely replacing Windows 11 with my preferred Linux distro

Context: I am struggling with my current laptop setup because I am experiencing severe memory bottlenecks.

Current hardware specs (I own a budget-tier laptop):

  • (C:) OS drive 12.7 GB free of 116GB
  • (D:) Backup drive 200 GB free of 931 GB (1TB)
  • 8 GB memory
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3500U
  • AMD Radeon Vega 8 (Picasso)

According to my research, Linux Mint is highly recommended as a lightweight Linux distribution for intensive web and database development.

My intention in asking here is to learn from someone with more experience regarding the trade-offs. So… enlighten me, guys!
