I configured an iPhone 8 to use Brother iPrint&Scan from the Apple store, but could only do this by adding the printer IP address manually and then it prints. After some delay, iPhone loses this connection and must re-add the IP manually.
The printer is 3 month old Brother DCP-L2550DW laser printer with the latest firmware. The Brother assigned IP address is 192.168.0.128 and this works on every wifi connected device.
This issue is specific to Apple devices, as I am often asked to help configure iPhones and iPads to print. This is never a case with Android devices. With Android, there is a delay of a minute or during initial configuration, but afterwards it doesn’t loose connection.
