some time ago I uninstalled the webcam drivers and software “just in case”, haha, for privacy, to know “the webcam is not avaiable to browsers or whatever (I know it sounds paranoid). Today I tried to reinstall the drivers and software but it doesn’t work. The HP Webcam is in “imaging devices” but it’s the old Windows driver, not the HP newer driver, and the cam software is not installed. (I’ve searched in Program Files, Program Files (x86), start menu, the list of installed programs, everywhere). The thing just doesn’t install anything, not the updated driver, not some splitter/codec/demuxer that should be there (I checked with the klite tools), and not the Webcam program (one of those programs with effects and stuff).
To be more specific:
-hp pavillion dv5 1140ez
-windows 7 ultimate x64 SP1
-the installer is called Webcam_Software_sp50497.exe
I tried uncompressing it and installing it manually but it didn’t work either.
I also reinstalled just in case all the drivers, directx, vcredist runtimes, HP’s “framework software”, whatever it is, I reinstalled everything that came with the PC.
