A contractor installed Cat8 S/FTP in the walls; however, the wall port is labelled Cat5e.
Nothing in the house will benefit from the Cat8, it was just chosen for future-proofing, I believe.
In the same vein of future-proofing, should the wall outlet have been:
- Cat8?
- Cat6a?
Are these backwards-compatible with Cat5e?
Additionally, does any use of a shielded cable outside of the port require like-cables for the shielding to actually work?
