About 7-8 years ago, I accidentally dropped a set of keys with a USB drive attached to it down the gap between the floor and the elevator which caused it to drop to the bottom of the elevator shaft about two stories down. I asked the maintenance company to retrieve it but they said they couldn’t find it. I’m sure it’s still down there and it has a lot of important personal data on it so I’m afraid some day somebody will find it while doing maintenance/repairs. Since then, the apartment complex has had water/oil, dirt and other debris drop down there as well. I’m sure the keys are covered in a lot of dirt/dust at this point. What are the chances that it is still useable/accessible if somebody finds it down there while doing repairs?
