Computer 1 runs Mac OS El Capitan. there is nothing installed that would allow it to write to an ext 4 file system (and it does not do so natively). I don’t believe that El Capitan can natively mount ext4. computer 2 runs Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon with “openssh-server” package […]

I had an ASUS M5A99FX Pro 2.0 motherboard running Debian Trixie Linux in CLI mode on a server. The motherboard failed after a power outage. I had another motherboard of the same model running the same version of Linux, except using the KDE desktop, and with completely different peripheral cards. […]
As mentioned in this previous question, I’d like to see what my application is doing. Now I am already capable of merging different event logs into one, but I still can’t see the message (currently in “General” tab) in the list above (I need to open each event log entry […]
I have recently noticed this behavior of ARP in Windows 11 and Server 2025 – it seems novel compared to Windows 10, and it’s a pain. Scenario: assume I have a machine with two network interfaces. Let’s say a notebook with LAN and wifi. Or a machine that has direct […]

Virtualbox Windows 8.1 guest only allows guest-to-host cut-and-pasting and doesn’t allow drag-and-drop in either direction. But a Windows 7 guest on the same machine allows bidirection cut-and-pasting and drag-and-drop. I have set up Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 as virtual machines under Linux Mint using VirtualBox (versions below). I installed […]
I am developing a custom WebGL-accelerated media viewer in Vanilla JS using HLS.js (MediaSource API). When switching between multiple live video streams on a single-page layout, memory usage steadily increases despite destroying the previous HLS instance. In Chrome DevTools memory profiling, I noticed that SourceBuffer memory is retained until full […]
