eBay and PayPal Open Registration to Developer Program Conference

eBay and PayPal opened registration for their Innovate developers conference on Wednesday. eBay had canceled its own Developers Conference, scheduled to take place June 7 – 9, 2011, and decided to merge it with PayPal’s X Innovate Developers Conference in October under a new name, X.commerce Innovate.

The conference will have the theme, “Our Platform, Your Imagination,” and will take place October 12-13, 2011, at the Moscone West conference center in San Francisco. Speakers will come from eBay, PayPal, and from some of the companies eBay has acquired including Magento, Milo, Where, Critical Path and RedLaser.

In February, eBay and PayPal announced the merging of their developers programs along with that of Magento’s, and many of the eBay developers program personnel have since left the company, including Laurel Kline, Laura Della Torre, or moved to different positions, such as Ginger Leishman, who moved to mobile. There are reports that the program is more focused on large companies rather than traditional tools providers.

eBay and PayPal announced the conference open registration on Wednesday. Sessions will include a range of topics and technology trends such as mobile, social, digital and local that will be held alongside session tracks from X.commerce, PayPal, eBay and Magento, “to demonstrate how you, the developers, along with systems integrators, agencies, consultants and service providers can grow your business by offering your technology and services to merchants through X.commerce.”
