Magento, an online retail platform provider and division of eBay company X.commerce, has released new UK-specific features for its Magento Go e-commerce facility.
The firm said the localised features will provide more flexibility and growth potential for small online merchants in the UK, enabling them to offer a “seamless” end-to-end shopping experience.
Retailers who sell items online and use small business delivery services can access a number of additional tools, including customisable coupons, gift cards and systems for order management and customer analytics.
Magento Go also embeds a ‘cookie restriction’ mode, meaning visitors to a webpage will be notified of the site’s need to use cookies in order to function fully, in accordance with new EU laws.
Another UK-specific feature added to the platform is an extension that helps businesses extend their selling power on to eBay by managing listings, synchronising stock levels and importing eBay transactions and orders.
The system is PayPal-enabled and has the PayPal Express Checkout built in.
Roy Rubin, general manager of Magento and chief product and customer officer of X.commerce, said the company has recently experienced an increase in demand from UK-based merchants dealing with unique tax laws and other regulations.
He added: “Magento Go is now equipped with additional market-relevant features to help our UK customers more effectively compete in the crowded online space.
“We’re taking the pain out of selling goods and services online by ensuring our customers are armed with some of the most flexible e-commerce tools available.”
One of the advantages of the Magento Go online retail platform, according to its developer, is the fact that there is no hardware, software or coding required, meaning merchants can focus on the day-to-day challenges and practicalities of running their business.
The system was first launched in the UK in February 2011 and has already helped many companies set up online stores.
