I have a new MacBook Pro with the M4 chip. Whenever I connect it to an external monitor using a direct HDMI-to-HDMI cable, I sometimes feel a mild electric shock or tingling sensation on the metal edges of my MacBook. Interestingly, the sensation is usually stronger when connected to the monitor than when charging. At times, the tingling suddenly disappears without any change in my setup.
I am using a grounded 2-prong power adapter, and both the MacBook and monitor are plugged into power outlets.
Is this electric tingling sensation normal or common with MacBook Pros?
What causes this tingling issue when connected to monitors via HDMI?
Could this affect the internal components of my MacBook?
Are there any fixes I can try to eliminate this tingling sensation?
Is this related to grounding or electrical leakage current issues?
Any advice on whether this requires contacting Apple Support or an electrician?
Thank you in advance for your insights!
