Flash will be “end of life” in Dec 2020 … so what then? [closed]

In a little over a year Flash will be “eol”. Meanwhile I routinely visit sites which have flash content and quite often they’re the sort of sites which haven’t changed much in the last ten years. So I envisage the following sequence of events :

  • Before EOL … increasingly strident in browser warnings when you visit a page with Flash content
  • Immediately after EOL … anyone who wants to will continue to access the Flash content
  • Years after EOL … people will replace machines and consequently browsers and will find there’s no Flash plugin to install into the new browser and so won’t be able to access the content even if they want to.
  • Decades after EOL … some websites will still be serving flash content but noone will be able to see it

My question is have I missed something out here ? Is there some magic bullet that’s going to rescue all that Flash content or will it just rot away ? Subsidiary question is there something I’ve overlooked with respect to the serving of Flash continuing to work in most cases as long as it’s not disturbed ?
