How to investigate unexplained data usage and suspicious activity?

I’m encountering an issue with mysterious processes running on my system for the past two months. These processes have consumed over 50GB of data last month, and in just five days this month, the usage has already reached 50GB.

The only large installation I made during this 5 day time period was Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 2 on Steam, which has a download size of 37.7GB. However, this doesn’t explain the high data usage from the previous month, during which I didn’t install anything significant.

Additionally, I received a fraudulent email claiming that my PC was hacked, with the sender demanding a large sum of money. I disregarded the email since there was no proof of compromise, and I eventually formatted my PC.

Note: I did scan the PC multiple times using MalwareBytes and BitWatden and got nothing and the CPU time is increasing in a slow rate.

Could this be related to some hidden malware or background processes? Any advice on how to investigate and resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
