How to replace Ubuntu 24 with Mint 22 with minimal headache?

I’d like some help switching from Ubuntu 24 to Mint 22 not dual boot.

I started with Mint but couldn’t get TigerVNC working, so switched to Ubuntu.

After several weeks getting it setup as I prefer, including replacing Gnome with Cinnamon, everything seems to be working well.

However, I find Ubuntu is using a package call snap, and that is unacceptable because I can’t alter programs like install unapproved plugins in Firefox, and Freecad, so, it’s back to Mint.

I understand both Ubuntu and Mint are Debian types, I’m hoping I can somehow simply replace the Ubuntu and keep my desktop settings, mount points, Samba shares and such and only reinstall my apps.

Is there a tutorial to help with this? What are my odds?
