One of the services available to me, from work, to connect to machines at work while I’m away, GlobalProtect. I’ve used it on various machines over the years. It’s reasonably good.
Now I’ve got a new VM I need to remote into from home. I thought I would install GlobalProtect using WinGet, but that switched me to the Microsoft Store.
So, I downloaded GlobalProtect. That was last updated on 8/12/2025, version 6.0.12.0, and it is newer than what I’ve used in the past. When I got into it, the first thing it wanted me to do was to create an entry in my Windows 11 machine’s Setting for VPN. The GlobalProtect I’ve used with work didn’t do anything like that. Instead, I would enter a URL for a server in my work’s domain. I searched here on Superuser for guidance with this, but the questions I saw all pertained to connecting to Palo Alto Network’s servers instead.
I’m wondering if I would have to use Palo Alto Network’s server, and then put in the URL for the server at work? Or should I just forget this version of GlobalProtect and look for whatever old version is used at work?
