Is it possible to use my home PC as a server to compile code or run heavy apps from my Laptop

I’m looking for a solution to use my home PC (Windows) as an server so I can put heavy computing on it, so i don’t have to do that with my Laptop. I need to do all sorts of things, like running an Android Emulator.
I have thought about setting up a VM, but when I do that, I can’t use everything. Or should I just set up a remote desktop?
This would all run behind a wireguard VPN.
