(tl;dr at bottom if you’re lazy)
Hi,
A bit of time back I decided that I wanted to learn a programming language, for fun mostly. I’m a fairly computer-savvy person and I want it more as a hobby more than anything, not as a job. Due to me already having a fairly extensive knowledge of HTML and CSS, I decided to pick PHP mainly so I could have a miniature full web development “package” in my back pocket.
I decided to pick CodeCademy to learn it, or at least the basics, as it was free and I heard good reviews about it. Upon my further investigation and partial completion of the PHP course, I felt a bit underwhelmed as it was a very basic course and only touched on the major topics. Im not a big fan of the learning through just reading instead of videos like TeamTreehouse does, which brought my interest to TeamTreehouse in the first place.
So, my question is, is TeamTreehouse worth it and/or a good place to learn PHP for a beginner like me, a person who has never learned an object-oriented language before? (the basic plan, the one that costs $25 per month) The price looks a bit steep but it does include a lot of different languages available to learn and multiple skill levels for each one.
I’ve signed up for a free trial on a non-active credit card so far and completed a few lessons, so I feel it would be really beneficial to hear from some people who have gone through the course before I pull the trigger and purchase it.
Many thanks!
