Has someone written up the “big picture” on getting comprehensive, anti-ad DNS running in a home environment?

My first area of concern is contexted in a traditional AdGuard on Rasberry Pi at home: How to get AdGuard to support Secure DNS and DoH.

Is this native to AdGuard when running on a Pi at home?

(And if it is, why do I see HowTo documents to put a reverse proxy like Traefik in front of AdGuard?)

I have long wanted “hosted” AdGuard. I mean, why have the maintenance overhead of my own AdGuard server? (I don’t need exceptions or customizations). Paying a small fee for ad-filtered DNS sounds good to me. I do not need local resolution or any customization (e.g. would be running %100 stock AdGuard locally). Are there reasons not to do this?

Firefox… Whatever I set up on my network, FireFox, by default, is going to ignore it? (Is that not the correct understanding of this Adguard kbase article?)
Sanity Check
So the upshot of all this is that I need to set up network level AdGuard (my infrastructure or SaaS based) that my network plumbing is pointed at, AND I need to manually tweak each installation of Firefox. Right? (Am I missing any obvious candidates?)
