Magento Hires Sales VP Glenn Hasen

eBay’s Magento ecommerce platform has hired Glenn Hasen as vice president of global sales and channels. In the new role, Hasen will manage day-to-day operations of the sales organization and oversee merchant adoption, successful customer onboarding and retention of the Magento platform. Prior to joining Magento, Glenn directed worldwide field operations at Zend Technologies.

Magento is part of eBay’s X.Commerce division, which is trying to weave together all of eBay’s technology into an ecommerce “fabric,” thereby creating an ecommerce operating system and bringing together the developers’ program of eBay Marketplaces, PayPal, Magento and GSI Commerce.

Interestingly PayPal recently separated its developers portal from the X.Commerce website after having restructured its developers program, X.to include eBay and Magento in 2011. Magento has taken over from PayPal in running X.commerce, and is holding its annual conference later this month at which eBay CEO John Donahoe will keynote.

Sunday marked the five-year anniversary of Magento’s launch of Magento 1.0, its open source platform. eBay acquired Magento in 2011.
