As the title says, I’m in Canada (and have never moved/updated my region). This computer is on Windows 10 (ver 22H2), and was working for years previously. All of a sudden, my win+space language switch started failing (also my win+shift+s screen clipping shortcut, but that could be unrelated).
I tried to see what was wrong, and eventually launched the microsoft store to find that I’m region locked. My account says canada, (Get-WinHomeLocation).GeoId returns 39 (Canada, as per here).
What I’ve tried:
- Checking MS account (says Canada)
- wsreset.exe
- updating clock/time zone settings, and running sync again.
- stopping/starting wuauserv, cryptSvc, bits, msiserver
- I couldn’t set my location because Maps is deprecated (this is how I ended up at the Win Store app)
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, sfc /scannow and chkdsk (I’ve had a lot of issues with this install, so I just run these all the time now, no idea if they’re useful here).
My current keyboards no longer list Canada, and I’m wondering if there’s some sort of issue that Win10 is getting confused about the fact that some things are in English (US), and the region is Canada, but the latter has been the case ever since this computer had Win7.
After these steps, I tried running wsreset.exe again, and got this: manifest validateresponses: failed. However, when I restart the store on its own, it’s back to the region locking message.
As per the comments, I created a local user (don’t actually think I gave it admin privileges, I didn’t see an option for that), and it IS able to access the store.
