I use my Dell Inspiron 15z laptop for music (Spotify and JRiver) only. I replaced the HDD with an SSD about 8 years ago. Still, the fan runs off and on and is irritating during low volume portions of music on my high fidelity system. The OS is Microsoft 10. How do I disconnect the fan? It is my understanding that the purpose was to cool the HDD and SDD does not need cooling. Is there a way to minimize fan noise either with software or stop it completely? Should I stop it completely?
