“Anyone can say they are ‘PCI Compliant’, but very few folks take the next step to have this independently audited”

Nexcess, a leading provider of premium eCommerce hosting services, has announced that the company’s sustained PCI-compliant web hosting environment will become PCI certified in the coming weeks. This certification relates directly to the ability of an eCommerce web site’s ability to accept credit card payments; in this case, for clients utilizing Nexcess’ Magento SIP (Secure Isolated Platform) web hosting packages.
In order to provide PCI certified web hosting, organizations must meet 12 distinct requirements for compliance, which must be further verified and approved by an independent third party. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a governing standard for information security as it relates to the handling of consumer cardholder information for payments made using major credit, debit, prepaid, ATM, and POS cards.
“Anyone can say they are ‘PCI Compliant’, but very few folks take the next step to have this independently audited,” commented Nexcess President and CEO, Chris Wells. “We feel that this certification falls right in line with Nexcess’ foundation of providing our clients with unparalleled service and support. Now, more than ever, people want to know that their sensitive information is safe when they’re doing business online. We want to provide our valued clients with that added level of confidence and security.”
The Magento SIP’s (Secure Isolated Platforms) available through Nexcess provide secure, high-performance and scalable hosting solutions for Magento eCommerce platforms. Each SIP is an entirely isolated, independently managed hosting environment. Nexcess SIP hosting plans also come with a pre-installed Magento store, featuring the most up to date Magento software, and are completely optimized to enhance performance, reliability and security. The Nexcess PCI DSS audit was conducted by BrightLine, the same independent group that handled the hosting company’s Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 audit earlier this year.
