I have been using NoMachine for some time now on its free version. I haven’t connected it to my remote machine for about 3 weeks. But when I tried to connect to it, it does not allow me to anymore.
After some research I found that they’ve essentially shut down their free version after the release of version 10 and their community forum was shut down also. Nevertheless, I am still using the previous version (9 that is) on both of the computers I am trying to connect. The message I am getting is this one:
A connection timeout has occurred while trying to connect to ‘x.x.x.x’
on port ‘4000’. The issue could either be caused by a networking
problem, by a firewall or NAT blocking incoming traffic or by a wrong
server address. Please verify your configuration and try again.
The machine I am trying to establish the connection from is a Windows 11 machine while the other machine is an Ubuntu 24.04 machine. The same issue occurs when I attempt to connect to the Ubuntu 24.04 machine using an Ubuntu 22.04 machine though, so there is some fundimental issue here I think. Also, I could connect from Windows 11 to Ubuntu 22.04 which are located to the same LAN I guess.
Does anyone know if this is an issue I can solve or if the NoMachine solution is out of limits for free users now?
