Old motherboard beeping after upgrading CPU

I swapped an i7 870 into my (old) h57h-am2 V:2.0 mother board SN: R68204G04922429 .
I know it’s from 2010 so this was the (2nd) best processor I researched I could upgrade it to. I was just going to use it as a Linux NAS and maybe a server but that is beside the point.
I had an i3 550 in here stock and worked fine and slow. After upgrading it just goes beeeeeep beep beep – on repeat. I’m guessing it’s not compatible, I even cleared the CMOS (it’s an old BIOS) mobo. I can’t even upgrade the firmware on it or anything because Acer didn’t really support these things (Acer Aspire Desktop AM3910-U4012) from day one. They don’t even have an official manual just some general specs on http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/specs-h57h-am2/ . Said I could upgrade to an i7 but I say they’re full of s**t. Acer makes poor quality mobos by the looks of it, unless the processor I upgraded to was DOA but I trust the eBay dealer on account of their reputation. I may return it but I wanted to see if anyone else knows where I can find legit firmware for the mobo. Otherwise its pointless to keep the i7 around…
