one drive wont let me copy files to another hard drive

There is enough room on my laptop to copy the folder 3 or 4 times.
I don’t want google one drive involved AT ALL!!
As long as your drive was big enough, we used to be able to just copy to another hard drive.
Is it possible to shut one drive out?
