I’ve mainly used Windows 10 as my main OS, but I’ve gotten fed up with Microsoft wanting all of my info; I’m looking to switch it up.
I’m looking for an OS that allows me to (relatively easily) completely remove all traces of any programs that I install or came on the OS, if I want to. After researching, this looks like a pretty messy process in Linux. I know about:
apt-get purge package
apt-get --purge autoremove
apt purge --autoremove package
But I also know this will not get rid of traces in system logs and the like, and I would like to get rid of everything. I don’t want to have to manually search through everything and “hunt down” remnants.
Maybe what I want is pointless, but the alternative just doesn’t sit well with me. Please tell me if there are any advantages to getting rid of all traces of an uninstalled program, or if there are none. Is what I’m asking possible in Windows, Mac, or any Linux distro (or anything else)? I want to like Linux, but this is making it hard.
