Oversatured Pixel Artifacts in Windows Media Player and other DirectShow applications

I’m trying to play an MP4 file with H264 video in with a DirectShow based application. In some scenes, where very bright pixels occur, I’m getting artifacts:

The same thing happens in Windows Media Player and all other DirectShow-based applications on my computer. How can I fix this, so that my DirectShow-based applications work properly again?
