San Antonio-based cloud hosting provider Rackspace Hosting said this morning that it has linked with e-commerce software provider Magento, which is a unit of eBay. According to Rackspace, it has become a platinum level partner in Magento’s hosting partner program. Rackspace said the link would offer up open cloud resources to Magento customers, particularly for handling peak times such as Cyber Monday, Black Friday and free shipping Thursday. Rackspace’s cloud servers are being used by e-commerce providers using Magento to scale their server resources up and down, according to their needs. Rackspace and Magento said they have over 1,000 deployments of Magento on the Rackspace cloud.
