I have an extremely important and necessary file which is just 1 byte and had no file extension until I renamed it to .txt (I did this in Windows 10) and the file like this (14-past rename to 14-past.txt) and then when I used cat command on it (on Debian), there is no contents at all. I created this file when I was using ParrotOS (Debian based) and its just behaves just like a text file and able put contents in it just using build in text editor and this is just works fine in ParrotOS. Now I use Debian and the I renamed it text file without thinking.
Another important factor is that I have many file like these but luckily all of them are text files except that one particular file and some file may have contents inside and some don’t.
Files that are empty are 0 bytes, but this one is 1 byte, therefore, my guess is that there might be something inside it or the file is 1 byte even its empty. In case if you are wondering about empty files, sometime only file name matters and sometime both name and contents.
I want to know whether is it possible read content in that particular file if it has content?
