I used the built-in Mac screenshooting features quite a bit to take screen grabs in order to illustrate software feature descriptions and bug reports. I say used because recently the keyboard shortcuts that initiate this have stopped working reliably for me.
When I press one of these key combos (command-shift-4 or command-shift-5) nothing seems to happen. Then about 1-2 minutes later, it either shows the screenshot crosshairs (command-shift-4) or the window capture tool (command-shift-5). I haven’t figured out a fix for this aside from restarting the Mac, but that just seems to resolve it temporarily. After a day or so, I’m back here.
I typically use an Apple bluetooth keyboard, but it also happens if I disconnect the bluetooth keyboard and use the built-in keyboard. When this is happening, my computer (2018 Intel MBP) doesn’t otherwise seem sluggish or bogged down. There’s no other delay in the keyboard input. It’s like my computer just queues the request and gets back to me 2 minutes later.
