Web hosting provider Nexcess announced on Friday that it has made several improvements to its Magento hosting solutions, including the launch of a new high-end cluster package for enterprise customers.

Nexcess has extended its range of high-end cluster options for Magento, the open ecommerce platform, with a new MCE-SIP-400 package that Nexcess says serves as the foundation of a flexible and scalable cluster that can be extended to cope with increased load by adding new server configurations as required.

Founded in 2000, Nexcess has focused on delivering hosting solutions optimized for Magento ecommerce stores. Last year, it launched PCI DSS-compliant Magento hosting, and recently, it joined the Magento hosting provider partner program as a platinum partner.

Magento serves more than 110,000 websites around the world, and has merchants on the platform growing to millions of dollars in commerce a year, and with a new Magento hosting  package Nexcess is in a position to capture this slice of the customer base. Jeff King, senior director of platform partnerships at eBay told the WHIR that its hosting partner program emphasizes quality of partners and the platform.

The new cluster option has increased bandwidth provisions, and increased CDN bandwidth, to 10,000 GB with 5000 GB of content delivery network bandwidth included.

The new cluster package includes six Dell Power Edge R420 servers with 2 Eight Core E5-2450 Sandy Bridge processors, 24 GB of RAM, and a pair of 73 GB 10K SAS drives behind a Dell Power Edge 1950 load balancer.

According to Nexcess, application servers in the cluster run from a pair of similarly specced Dell Power Edge R420 database servers, with four 146GB 15K SAS drvevs in a RAID 10 configuration, and a Dell R410 file server with four 300GB SAS drives. Nexcess says customers can add optional firewalls, staging servers, SOLR servers and payment bridge servers to the basic package.

“We’re proud to be able to take care of eCommerce clients of all sizes with maximum performance, up to and including the largest enterprise clients,” Chris Wells, president and CEO of Nexcess said in a statement. “Coupled with our long experience in Magento hosting, the in-house expertise we’ve developed over the years, and our phenomenal support team, we can confidently say that Nexcess should be first on the list for anyone that’s serious about hosting a Magento site right.”

Nexcess has also made a range of updates to its dedicated hosting packages, including more server power and increased bandwidth.
