Web Host Nexcess Launches WordPress Platform for Blog Hosting

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Nexcess announced on Friday that it has launched a new web hosting platform specifically for WordPress.

In addition to providing basic hosting packages, Nexcess has established its expertise in e-commerce hosting through offering a line of Magento hosting. Magento is a popular shopping cart platform that was acquired by eBay in June and Nexcess is one of four gold partners of the platform, according to the press release.

“Blog hosting is a competitive market, but so was the eCommerce hosting market when we first entered into it now more than a decade ago,” Chris Wells, president andCEO of Nexcess said in a statement. “We believe that the same approach to hosting solutions that won us our close relationship with Magento will translate very nicely in bringing the perfect set of blog hosting plans to the WordPress community.”

In an effort to foster relationships within the WordPress community, Nexcess sponsored WordCamp Detroit 2011 this past weekend.

While many web hosting providers offer WordPress hosting, Nexcess says the majority of those web hosts meet the minimum requirements. When hosts align their offerings with WordPress for example, they are able to access a huge, engaged community, many of which may need professional hosting services.

All of Nexcess’ plans come equipped with the latest WordPress version, W3 Total Cache plugin installed, memcached installed and enabled, level 3 server management and R1Soft daily backups. Most plans, except for the most basic level, include CDN access.

According to its website, Nexcess has optimized its WordPress plans through a combination of software and hardware. For the full list of WordPress-optimized features, see its website.
