I want to have my personal, portable computer which I can take anywhere and use it. I can always use laptop, but I don’t like storing my data in laptop and then dealing with taking backups regularly from it. I want to use one SSD, load my OS from it and also save my data directly to that SSD. What I am planning to do is this:

Have one portable mini desktop, one of those without monitor or other peripherals like keyboard.

Have one SSD, from which I can boot my OS, and also use other partition to store my user data/files etc.

From my other laptop, I want to remote-in to my machine which runs on portable desktop and interact with that, saving files directly to my SSD. Only purpose of laptop is to connect to my machine in the portable desktop.
Is this possible? Any suggestions on which mini desktop I should buy ? What kind of SSD would be good and fast enough for my purpose ? Any drawbacks of this approach ? Share your thoughts.
