On my old (~2018) Lenovo Chrome had been returning “connection reset” errors intermittently then permanently for all sites I cared to access. Brave and Firefox work fine to this day.
Chrome may have started acting up after problems with my net-adapter causing the Lenovo to run out of charge repeatedly.
The desktop version of an app is also unable to connect to its servers, when its browser version works fine in Brave.
For the connection reset error I’ve tried all manner of suggestions:

restarting the router (already did that)

disabling ipv6
-
releasing and renewing and flushing dns with ipconfig

turning OFF proxy’s

changing to Google’s DNS servers

disabling anti-virus (pausing it)

clearing the browser cache and cookies (for the sites I was interested in – I’m not about to clear everything for every site and heap a ton of work on myself to restore stuff)

checked sites in incognito (I’m not about to disable all extensions and re-enable them one by one, for the same reason). Besides I sync extensions between the two machines, so I know for a fact extensions aren’t the problem.
None of these cleared the errors.
What else can I investigate and how to track down what is causing Chrome (only chrome, other browsers are fine) to suffer from connection reset and that app’s desktop version reporting can’t reach/connect (app’s message, probably not the actual error message).
Looking into similar questions, I spotted: My internet connection is not working in my laptop. The interesting bit here being that their internet problem (WiFi card no longer showing up) also started after their machine running out of charge.
What can I check/investigate that might be related to my machine running out of charge repeatedly? I’m thinking that possibly BIOS was affected? Or some other (hardware) component? Then again, why only Chrome and that app’s desktop version?
