I have a hard drive (HUH721010ALE601) which is reporting a failing SMART test, but I’m having a hard time interpreting what it means. The failure looks to be with attribute 45, which is labelled “Unknown_Attribute”. What does this attribute refer to? I don’t see it listed in listed in the HDD’s manual (pdf) and looking through here and elsewhere I’m not seeing any references to the same SMART attribute. Obviously I’m not comfortable with a drive reporting an imminent failure, but I’m having a hard time understanding what the specific issue is.
