I have a genuine Lexar USB flash drive that I was using semi-regularly a couple of years ago, but it has been sitting in my little box of drives unused since then. The last thing on it was some movies which wrote to the drive and played no problem.
I’ve now tried to use the USB flash drive again but its not mounting and detection seems slow on Linux where other drives seem to be detected immediately. I tried installing ventoy on the drive which gave unspecific errors, but the partition table is obviously intact as ventoy has successfully written that.
Running F3probe I get the following:
F3 Probe states 0 blocks usable
F3 probe 8.0

it can take longer. Please be patient.
Bad news: The device `/dev/sda' is damaged
Device geometry:
*Usable* size: 0.00 Byte (0 blocks)
Announced size: 58.35 GB (122368000 blocks)
Module: 64.00 GB (2^36 Bytes)
Approximate cache size: 0.00 Byte (0 blocks), need-reset=no
Physical block size: 512.00 Byte (2^9 Bytes)
Probe time: 2'21"
Do USB flash drive chips fail on these things from no use? Are there other ways I might get this drive going again?
Edit: fdisk can read the partition info
