I have a MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon.
It offers
- 2 NVMe slots
- 5 PCIe slots
I have two NVMe drives installed. I have one GPU on PCI_E1.
I wanted to upgrade to a 2.5 GBit ethernet card and I thought I could slot one in on one of the other free PCI_E slots.
Yet while the ethernet card works fine after booting, I don’t see my second NVMe SSD drive after booting, so it seems the feature is either-or: I can either install a NVMee drive or I can add a extension card into a PCI_E slot.
I tried all the slots except PCI_E2 directly below the GPU slot as I cannot install the ethernet card due to spacing issue.
Before I buy a raiser extension: Would that slot even allow for both using the NVMe hard drive together with the PCIe ethernet card, or would again my NVMe stop working?
Or more general: Which slots on this board are mutually exclusive?
