I recently bought an Acer Nitro V 15 that came without an operating system (FreeDOS). I performed a clean install of Windows from a USB drive, but I’m having trouble getting the system to correctly recognize the keyboard and touchpad drivers. The F-keys were working prior to booting into Windows 10 Pro.
The exact symptoms I’m experiencing right now are:
- The touchpad isn’t working at all.
- The standard function keys (F1 through F6) are unresponsive.
- The multimedia functions for F1 through F6 aren’t working either.
What I’ve already tried (without success):
- I went into the BIOS and changed the “Function Key Behavior” setting (toggling between Media Key and Function Key), but that didn’t solve the problem.
- I used the factory partition (ResourceCD) included with the laptop to try and install the drivers.
- I manually installed the touchpad driver (Elantech) from its Setup folder.
- I installed the Intel Serial IO drivers (Install.bat / executable).
- I ran the general installer (
Autorun.exe) from the Acer drivers folder.
Despite restarting the computer after each step, the system still hasn’t enabled the touchpad, and the keys are still only partially functional.
Does anyone know the correct installation order or the specific driver I’m missing to get the touchpad working again and restore normal keyboard function? Is it mandatory to install proprietary software like Acer Quick Access, NitroSense, or a specific chipset utility that I might be overlooking? I tried installing and using them, but it didn’t make much of a difference.
