I believe the AppX component for Windows 11 search experience that is broken is the system-owned (un-alterable) thing C:WindowsSystemAppsMicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy
It’s broken. And it’s unrepairable by any means known to the internet.
Even after doing all of the usual “Google me…” things, search results stay empty forever. No error is shown:
Workaround: Use a real search tool like everything.
Things tried.
- Every variant of
sfc.exeanddism.exeincantation known to win11 user forums. - Microsoft’s own Windows search broken PowerShell script [ResetWindowsSearchBox.ps1]
- Rremoving registry keys.
- Every manner of restart this and that service and process, and restart known to Google-fu. SearchHost, WindowsSearch service, etc.
- Everything suggested by every AIChatbot, incluiding the Indexing troubleshooter in windows. And the AI powered (and completely useless) GetHelp feature that takes over from the equally useless MSDT troubleshooting wizards, and the useless page here from Microsoft.
