Why does the Photoshop web app not support incognito mode? [migrated]

I needed to edit some photos on the go so I decided to use the Photoshop web beta. I had to log in with my Google account to access my Adobe CC subscription, but I was on a shared public computer so I used InPrivate browsing on Microsoft Edge.

When I tried to create a new document, I was faced with this error:

You may not have the minimum amount of disk space or RAM, or are accessing in incognito mode. Incognito mode is not supported. You can view or comment. To edit or save changes, open in normal mode or on a device with more disk space and RAM.

The PC has 8gb of ram and over 100gb free so I believe the issue must be private browsing. I tried the “guest browsing” feature in both Edge and Chrome and got the same error.

I didn’t think it was possible to definitively detect if someone is using incognito mode, so how can they tell? Also, why would incognito mode not be supported in the first place? It doesn’t make sense to me that they would alienate users who have a legitimate reason to use private browsing.
