I am not even pasting anything long, just a few useful aliases to bashrc from another server.
If I copy the same stuff just a few lines at a time, it is pasted instantly and I finish it all faster than if I pasted it all at once. And sometimes it even hangs and never recovers, so I have to kill it.
Usually the time that passes before I decide to kill it is even longer than if I typed it all from scratch without copying anything. This doesn’t make any sense. Even if the console pasted everything character by character, it surely must be faster than typing it by hand!
What is going on?
