I want to compress my backups to take up less space so I’ve been thinking of compressing them with 7zip lmza2. But then I asked myself if this was really a good idea, since they’re backups I also kinda want them to be robust so my question is how risky is using 7zip here in case something gets corrupted or goes wrong?
I think that if the archive gets corrupted somewhere in the middle it can only affect single files but if it affects the wrong parts of the archive file it renders the file inextractable?
